Oh Hey, I Remember You!

Almost two years after being drafted, Spanish sensation Ricky Rubio has finally agreed to join the team that drafted him back in 2009, the crappy TWolves in Minnesota:
He’s special,” one NBA GM told ESPN.com in April of 2009. “There aren’t many kids you’ll find at his age with such a terrific feel for the game. He just knows how to play. When he gets out there with players 10 years older than him, he just looks like he belongs. He’ll have some adjusting to do in the NBA, but the truth is, he’s as NBA-ready as most of the college kids that are coming out. He’s playing on a very big world stage… 

Rubio is very sketchy. When I watch highlight videos like the one below, he looks like the second coming of John Stockton or Chris Paul. But his recent performances in the EuroLeague before coming over are suspect:
 Rubio has, by virtually all accounts, regressed the past two years. After averaging 10 ppg and 6 apg for DKV Joventut, while shooting 41 percent from 3 during the 2008-09 season, he has struggled with Barcelona. In the 2009-10 season — his first season with Barcelona — his numbers dipped to 7 ppg and 4 apg in both the Spanish and Euroleague. There wasn’t a huge concern afterward because Rubio had joined a veteran team stacked with stars and adjusted his game to just fit in. Plus, his team won the 2010 Euroleague Championship. But this season his numbers slipped again — in part thanks to a foot injury. Rubio averaged 6.5 points and 3.2 assists in the Euroleague, shooting just 39 percent from the field and 22 percent from 3. A number of top NBA international scouts who watched Rubio play this season walked away disappointed with his development. Some questioned whether he had peaked as an 18 year old…

Kevin Love’s Brilliant "N#mbers" Spoof Commercial

Minnesota forward Kevin Love is quietly putting up ridiculous numbers this season. Averaging 21.6 points and 15.7 rebounds per game, he is a walking double-double that wants a spot in the ALl-Star game…badly. So, to spread the word, his camp came out with a commercial mocking all of those mysterious cologne ads. Kevin’s cologne name? N#mbers, cause that’s what he puts up every single game.

Making an awkward moment Funny.

It was a tragic scene in Minnesota the other night. Timberwolves forwards Wesley Johnson and Kevin Love did their best to create the most awkward moment on the basketball court. The botched handshake. It’s a critical part of the game, and as Wolves vision reports, there is lots of work being done to ensure that this NEVER happens again.

Big Al Trashes Minnesota After Leaving

“Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!”

That’s what a lot of Minnesota TWolves fans are saying after hearing Al Jefferson’s parting shots on leaving Minnesota for Utah (via a recent trade). Big Al doe snot hold back:
“They have a nice group of guys, but will have a couple more losing seasons …  I respect the fans that have supported me through the good and the bad… but when I told people I played for Minnesota, some people didn’t even know they had a team…I go from being in a Toyota to a Bentley. It’s a beautiful thing.”
Going from a bad team to a good team, and a toyota to a bentley…yeah it’s an upgrade. Safe to say that the former Celtics draft pick has burned all his bridges in the state of Minnesota.
